Dr. Cora Marrett is currently the Acting Deputy Director of the National Science Foundation (NSF), pending her confirmation by the U.S. Senate. Prior roles at NSF include: Acting Director (June 2010-October 2010), Acting Deputy Director (January 2009-June 2010), Assistant Director for the Education and Human Resources Directorate (February 2007-June 2009), and Assistant Director for Social, Behavioral, and Economic Sciences (1992-1996). In these several roles she has been leading NSF's mission to achieve excellence in U.S. science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education at all levels and in both formal and informal settings. Her many other prior roles include strong ties to Wisconsin. Dr. Marrett served as a Professor of Sociology at UW-Madison and as the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Wisconsin System.
